You can buy directly from Jessica Hiemstra, the writer and artist behind the storybooks - the book that opened the door to the world of Eric and Eloise and the characters who have become so beloved to so many of us!

Orders for 2025 can be made up until April 15th, 2025. We take orders once a year. There is a minimum order quantity of 10 books, in any combination.

Books take several months to print and bind. We usually ship books in September and October, in time for the holidays. Your order is non-refundable because we will be printing the books just for you! We use Canada Post but if you have your own account with FedEx or UPS, we can accommodate you. Just let us know! We charge freight before we ship books. We will reach out before we mail them to you.

A little bit about the books

The books are ultimately about friendship, love, and wonder. They celebrate the forest and the animals who live in it. The books are both artful and playful. The world of Eric and Eloise is drawn from Jessica’s childhood. She grew up loving animals and trees - in a cabin in the forest!

Books are 9 × 12 and printed on Lokta Paper (also known as the Daphne shrub). The bark of the shrub is harvested and pulped, and the shrub regrows! It’s a traditional Nepalese paper-making technique, and it’s sustainable. Every page is screen-printed and the books are bound and stitched by small scale cottage industries and by women co-ops in Kathmandu. They are handmade from start to finish! The Eric and Eloise books have the future of one another and our planet in mind. And they are beautiful.

Book Summaries

Eric and Eloise is the story of the friendship between a fox named Eloise and a hare named Eric. This is the first book, a Christmas book, and is the book that catalyzed the creation of the whole world of Eric and Eloise!

While the Forest is Sleeping is the story of Beatrice the bear, who has two cubs in winter, while the forest is sleeping. This is a New Years Eve book and is dedicated to mothers everywhere. In this book Eric, Eloise, Louie, and Frankie, also appear.

Charlie in Spring features Charlie the duck, and is the third book in the series. This story is a celebration of Spring! All of the other characters make an appearance - Eric, Eloise, Frankie, Louie, Eugene, Margie, Emerson, and Beatrice.
